What’s On The Lawn all about?

On The Lawn powered by BDO is back for Summer 2025, celebrating its 9th year! Since its inception, OTL has raised over $200,000 to support Elevation Outdoors and youth in our community.

We invite Okanagan fun-seekers to step back in time, roll some bowls, sip a cool beverage, and have a truly awesome time. BBQ and beverages are available each week so all you need to do is show up and be ready to have some fun. In addition to lawn bowling action, On The Lawn is a great opportunity to connect with friends, network, soak up some sun, and have a little friendly competition – all while supporting a great cause! There are prizes for “best dressed/most fun team”, “best team name”, and of course the Tournament Champions! Yes, there is a trophy!

Team registration is $265 for 4 players. Games are organized into 2 brackets (2 separate tournaments), each running Thursday evening for 2 weeks (Bracket 1: July 24 & 31. Bracket 2: August 7 & 14). Your team can register for one bracket or both! Teams plays 3 games each week with one social break, giving you a chance to meet new people and enjoy some BBQ. Doors Open at 5:30 pm and games wrap up around 9:00 pm.

All proceeds go to Elevation Outdoors, whose mission is to enhance the lives of youth facing barriers via specially-designed outdoor sport programs.

But what if I’ve never lawn bowled

Don’t worry, there’s no experience required! The first night starts with a mini lesson from Kelowna Lawn Bowling members. Anyone can play. It’s like bocce meets curling.

Teams are comprised of 4 players with 2 bowls each. The aim of the game is simple – Roll your bowls as close as possible to a small white ball called the ‘Jack’.

It might sound easy, but the fact that the bowls do not travel in a straight line seriously adds to the tactical challenge. Yes, lawn bowls are weighted. Closest team to the Jack scores!
